Bio

Alexander Cohen is currently a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Davis studying neurobiology, physiology and behavior, as well as cognitive science. He aspires to become a surgical physician and is currently in the application cycle for medical school. Alexander joined the Mangun Lab in February of 2022 under the direction of Lee Holcomb. Due to his interest in neuroscience and the ways people interact with one another, Alexander decided to join the Mangun Attention Lab. This will further his understanding of neuronal measurements to eventually utilize in a clinical setting. The lab is utilizing EEG to study the earliest visual cortical region, V1, and the effect attentional modulation has on the visual hierarchy. In his free time, Alexander enjoys spending time in nature, whether that be hiking or biking in a town he has never explored before. Throughout his time in the Mangun Lab, Alexander is hoping to further explore the usages of EEG in a practical setting, as well as better understand how attentional differences may modulate the way each individual views the world.
