Sofia Fischel is a third-year computational cognitive science undergraduate minoring in mathematics. She joined the Mangun Lab in September 2024 under the mentorship of Dr. John Nadra, aiding in EEG research investigating the neural correlates of willed attention under no-cue-constraint conditions. Sofia is also assisting with a study dually investigating covert and overt attention, utilizing additional eyetracking functionalities. Aspiring to work in the therapeutic and reparative neurotechnology sector, she is especially interested in the technical devices and methodologies that reveal probabilistic, stochastic processes underlying particular brain functions. Outside of academic pursuits, Sofia enjoys a Wikipedia-deep dive into various countries, mixed-media collaging, and spending time with her two cats, Shrimp and Kiki.
